The West Virginia Health Information Network (WVHIN) will support physicians and health care providers in providing the best patient care through the electronic delivery of medical data. The Network will begin operations in May 2009.

The West Virginia Health Information Network was established in 2006 by the Legislature at the request of the Governor Joe Manchin III to "... promote the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of a fully interoperable statewide network to facilitate public and private use of health care information in the state while ensuring the privacy and security of patient health care information.

It is a public-private partnership for the benefit of all of the citizens of West Virginia."
